The Ultimate Throwback Season. #1LastRun is a year long charity basketball project ran by the New Milton Blackhawks in memory of our friend William Carling.
2018-2019 Basketball Season
In September 2018 a band of Basketball veterans reunited for one last season in memory of their friend Will Carling. During his battle against cancer, Will shared his desire to play Basketball with the New Milton Blackhawks again. Although he never got the chance to do so, his team mates were determined to honour his wish. Under the collective project “1lastrun”, each game was used as a platform to fundraise for the Bone Cancer Research Trust.

In 2011 we tragically lost Will to Ewing’s Sarcoma a rare form of Bone Cancer. He was just 21. Many of his friends and family have undertaken incredible fundraising feats for the family’s chosen charity, the Bone Cancer Research Trust. The club have also got involved in our own way with the “Will Carling Classic Basketball Charity games”. As many of our squad are now the wrong side of thirty, we have decided to undertake one big final charity push by scheduling a year long set of Basketball themed fundraising in memory of Will.
